Hazardous Hanoi

After our relaxing time in Phong Nga we headed to the busy metropolis of Hanoi. We arrived there at around 11am after a very long sleeper bus. We don't care much for big cities so we decided to book another sleeper bus for that evening, to take us north to Sapa. We spent our time in Hanoi strolling around the tourist district, checking out the exotic sites and smells the city had to offer.

This lady was selling some kind of strange fruit we'd never seen before...she wasn't stoked on having her picture taken.

We wandered through the temple located in the centre of Hoan Kiem Lake.

Inside the temple grounds was this giant embalmed turtle that used to live in the lake. Supposedly there is still one of these ancient turtles in the lake today.

The name Hoan Kiem lake, means 'lake of the restored sword' due to some obscure Vietnamese legend we never really understood.

We rounded off our time in Hanoi with some Bia Hoi! A 25 cent/per glass draft beer that the Vietnamese love, and is only about 3% alcohol.

So weird...
